What is a bodyage?

Do you know your biological age, or have you ever thought about having it calculated? Your biological age depends on your state of health. Your lifestyle and priorities therefore have a major impact on how healthy you are.

How do you take a bodyage test?

Acture offers health screenings designed to provide an overall assessment of each employee’s health status. Employees can receive guidance and information from a healthcare professional. The health screening includes a series of physical measurements related to the body’s health status. Based on these measurements, a “Bodyage” is calculated, which gives the employee an idea of how healthy they are compared to their peer group. If you are in good shape and place a relatively high value on your health and well-being, your body may be measured as being younger than your actual age. The physical measurements used to calculate your Bodyage consist of:

  • Blood test results, including total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol
  • Blood pressure measurement, including systolic and diastolic blood pressure
  • Body Fat Measurement
  • VO2 Max Measurement (Maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute per kilogram of body weight)
  • Whether you're a smoker or a non-smoker

Bodyage as a motivational tool:

As mentioned earlier, your Bodyage score can be used to assess your overall health. It is often useful in a process that involves discussing changes to your habits. Bodyage can therefore be used as a motivational tool to track progress over time as you change your lifestyle habits, whether you’re aiming to lose weight or build a healthier lifestyle. It turns out that motivation increases significantly when we see results.

Tips for keeping your body healthy and youthful:

  • Get regular exercise throughout the week. Your physical fitness has a major impact on your health and body.
  • Avoid smoking. It takes a toll on your body and can, among other things, damage your lungs.
  • Follow the recommendation to eat a healthy, varied diet and not overeat. In addition to providing energy and vitality for your daily life, this also helps prevent obesity and various lifestyle-related diseases, such as diabetes.
  • Follow the recommendation of 7–9 hours of sleep per day. Sleep is important because it improves your quality of life, boosts your creativity and well-being, and helps prevent stress, anxiety, and depression. A healthy sleep pattern has just as much of an impact on our health as diet and exercise.
